County Commissions reminded of important post-election statutory requirements
Ahead of tomorrow’s General Election, counties with commission seats on the ballot are reminded that Alabama has statutory rules in place regarding the term of office for County Commissioners and the scheduling of post-election commission meetings. Counties with commission seats on tomorrow’s ballot are encouraged to review these statutory rules and to contact ACCA’s General Counsel, Kelley Gillikin, with any questions. Please note that these rules do not apply to counties with no commission seats on the 2024 ballot.
Contact information needed for newly-elected County Commissioners
Attention, County Administrators! Are you welcoming in new County Commissioners this month? If so, the Association needs your help in ensuring we have the contact information necessary to share important news and resources with these Commissioners throughout their time in office. Once you have the contact information for your new Commissioners, we ask that you kindly send an email to registration@alabamacounties.org with each new Commissioner’s (1) first and last name; (2) phone number (work, home and/or mobile); (3) email address and (4) mailing address (home or commission office).
PLAN 2026 application process open for second-term Commissioners
As a reminder, the Association is now accepting applications for the 2026 graduating class of its unique and exclusive Passion, Leadership, Accountability and Networking (PLAN) program. PLAN is a 20-month program for second-term Commission Members that builds purposeful county leaders by teaching participants how to recognize and better utilize their skills and passions — and those of others — to improve their governments and communities. The PLAN 2026 program will run from January 2025 through August 2026 and feature a series of strategic projects, seminars and social outings. To learn more and/or apply by the Wednesday, December 18, deadline, click here. For questions, contact ACCA’s Director of Communication and Engagement, Abby Fitzpatrick.

This week will mark the beginning of a new initiative for members of the County Revenue Officers Association of Alabama (CROAA) — a regularly scheduled virtual discussion titled “CROAA Conversations.” The new initiative aims to allow County Revenue Officers and License Inspectors a consistent opportunity to discuss and share insights and resources on the latest issues facing county revenue and licensing operations. The inaugural “CROAA Conversations” virtual event will take place this Wednesday, November 6, at 10:30 a.m., and all county revenue staff should have already received an email with complete details on how to participate. Those who did not receive an email or who encounter technical issues related to participation are encouraged to contact ACCA’s Policy and Member Services Assistant, Lisa Fiore.
